NAIDOC 2010 Musgrave Park

Our very first endeavour together as dot will be our participation at the 2010 NAIDOC day celebrations at Musgrave Park. We will be creating a small gallery, with the hope that you will visit and share with us your time and viewpoints on our artwork and practice.

We will be posting throughout the progress of our preparations, sharing our artwork and thoughts and experiences, and welcome any of your thoughts and feedback.

Welcome to the 'dot'

We are a group of 10 Indigenous artists that have formed a connection through the creation and appreciation of visual art.

The word 'dot' is used to evoke the imagery of Australian Indigenous art. It is an association that is often interchangeable, to mean traditional and spiritual or even authentic. We have chosen this word to represent us in order to evoke our own connotations and values to the ‘dot’, reimaging it as our own explanation, of our Indigenous art.

We create contemporary Australian Indigenous art, all with our own unique aspects. We investigate and question our position within Australian society, explore our kinship and historical ties, expressing this with a varied array of media and conceptual frameworks.

We are from all parts of Australia; we have travelled many different pathways to get to this point. Dot has become a common ground for us to share and support each other in reaching our artistic dreams and endeavours.
